This is an amazing opportunity to work as a Property Tax Accountant for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. This position is part of a team of seasoned property tax accountants who manage the property taxes of Church owned properties in the United States and Canada.

An ideal candidate for this position will have strong accounting experience. Previous property tax experience is preferred and would be very helpful in this position. Experience with property tax software or working with databases is a plus. A typical day in this role involves gathering tax assessments, authorizing, and paying tax bills, entering data into a database, using Excel and Outlook, scanning, processing mail and performing simple analytics.

This work has a seasonal fluctuation, and Fall is our peak season. This role will combine an understanding of Church organization, culture, and interests with seasoned industry-level technical expertise in work related to property tax. This role assists in preparing and reviewing required property tax returns and related statements or records. Maintains records of property tax assessments and tax payments. Recommends financial actions that may lessen the organization's tax liability while meeting organizational goals and maintaining compliance with laws and regulations. Researches and suggests responses to changes in tax laws, regulations, and guidelines. Assists with audits as needed. Performs work under minimal supervision. Handles complex issues and problems, and refers only the most complex issues to higher-level staff. May lead the work of others in the absence of the supervisor or manager and provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group. Typically reports to a Property Tax Supervisor or other manager.

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, business management, or related field.
  • 4 years of applicable work experience.
  • Possesses comprehensive working knowledge of property tax issues.
  • Possesses ability to lead the work of other employees as well as the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Demonstrates problem-solving skills, analytical thinking skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Is detail oriented.
  • Has solid computer, word processing, and database management skills.
  • To successfully perform the essential functions of the job there may be physical requirements which need to be met such as sitting for long periods of time and using computer monitors/equipment.
