THE OPPORTUNITY
The Co-Investment Team is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, executing, and monitoring private equity co-investments and direct investments on behalf of Cambridge Associates' client base. The team evaluates opportunities on a global basis and across asset classes, with a primary focus on leveraged buyouts and growth equity. Being a global and cross-functional team, members of the Co-Investment Team work closely with the various private equity investment research teams at Cambridge as well with client teams. The Co-Investment Team is based in Menlo Park, San Francisco, Boston, London, and Singapore, and currently comprises 8 investment directors and 2 investment associates.
Investment Associates complete an in-depth training program and receive ongoing training and mentorship from senior research and client facing investment directors. Because deep knowledge and experience are important for maximizing an Investment Associate's time at CA, we are looking for candidates who are interested in growing with our team for a minimum of 2-3 years. Since members of the Co-Investment Team must evaluate both private equity funds and specific private equity transactions, it is strongly preferred that candidates have 2 years of relevant investment or transaction experience.
Job Responsibilities:
- Work as an integral member of the private equity team in all aspects of the practice, with a primary emphasis on sourcing, evaluating, and executing private equity co-investment opportunities on behalf of the firm's co-investment fund and client specific mandates.
- Perform business, financial, and industry due diligence on leveraged buyout, growth equity, and expansion stage capital transactions.
- Attend and participate in meetings with private equity fund executives, portfolio company executives, and other senior professionals.
- Complete written research and analysis to support investment decisions. This includes concise commentaries summarizing opportunities and in depth due diligence reports.
- Help lead investment evaluation meetings and reference calls in support of opportunities.
- Serve as a resource to colleagues seeking current information on co-investment opportunities.
- Prepare for and participate in global practice meetings.
- Collaborate with senior professionals to support the team's engagement with existing and prospective co-investment clients.
- Represent the firm at industry and investor conferences.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (any major) with a record of achievement.
- Strong, demonstrated interest in private investments, including direct investments or co-investments.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
- Demonstrated leadership, integrity and initiative.
- Demonstrated command of written communication and strong business writing skills.
- Ability and willingness to engage in conversation with internal and external parties, including senior investment professionals.
- Strong Excel skills, including financial modeling.
- Ability to work both independently and on a team under tight deadlines.
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally.
- Must be eligible to work without restriction in the US.
