Job Responsibilities
Under minimal supervision, assists the Director of Financial Aid in managing all aspects of the financial aid operation. Responsible for maintaining the financial aid portion of the student information system (Ellucian's Colleague), regulatory compliance, quality assurance, and financial aid training. Assists with the process of satisfactory academic progress (SAP) and the SAP appeals process. Ensures the accuracy of the federal Return to Title IV calculations.
- Assists the Director of Financial Aid in managing all aspects of the financial aid operation. Maintains a working knowledge of financial aid administration. Remains up-to-date on federal and state financial aid regulations to ensure compliance and quality assurance. Provides ongoing staff training on all processes and assists with updates to policies and procedures.
- Responsible for electronic processing and reporting. This includes the receipt, review, and submission of electronic transmissions. Responsible for importing federal records into Colleague, managing subsequent records and unconverted records, developing, and maintaining communication management, document tracking and aid packaging. Develops and maintains various reports.
- Responsible for the federal Return to Title IV (R2T4) process. To include the reviewing of reports to identify students requiring an R2T4 calculation, performing the R2T4 calculations, and ensuring the accuracy of the calculations performs by other staff member. Ensure fund are properly returned.
- Assists staff with resolving federal aid application issues. Helps resolve document discrepancies. Promotes excellent customer service. Maintains staff work schedules to ensure the office and events are adequately staffed at all times.
- Determines satisfactory academic progress of financial aid applicants, current students, and returning students. This includes transcript analysis, student notification, and overseeing the appeals process.
- Performs all supervisory responsibilities for two staff members (Administrative Specialist and VA Counselor) to include objective development and performance evaluation.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
Bachelor's degree and financial aid or related experience. Preferred: Bachelor's degree in related areas, along with at least 5 years of experience in the administration of federal, state, and local financial aid.
