Summary
The Controller position is a key financial leadership role with CAE USAs Defense & Security business. They will be responsible for overseeing the accounting and financial functions within the organization. This position plays a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing strategic financial guidance to support decision-making. We need someone who thrives in high-stakes leadership, effortlessly navigating through a matrixed organization, building trust, and influencing key strategic decisions. This position will report to the Senior Director of Finance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Spearhead all financial and management accounting, controlling, reporting, planning, and analysis activities across the business
- Partner closely with leadership and support functions to achieve strategic financial objectives
- Maintain a stable internal control environment, ensuring Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and adherence to US GAAP standards
- Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Provide actionable insights and develop robust financial plans to enhance organizational efficiency and lower operational costs
- Generate regular financial reports for management, providing insights into the organizations financial performance
- Provide financial forecasts based on industry trends, company performance, and economic factors.
- Lead a team of finance and accounting professionals, fostering growth and talent development while implementing best practices
- Supervise and mentor staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment
- Ensure financial investments and business commitments align with strategic objectives, generating adequate returns and mitigating risks
- Offer technical guidance on contractual and accounting matters, critical performance metrics, and ad-hoc business analysis
- Implement and monitor internal control procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure financial accuracy
- Conduct regular audits to identify and rectify discrepancies
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations, reporting requirements, and other financial laws
- Collaborate with external auditors to facilitate annual audits
- Manage cash flow and optimize working capital to support operational needs
- Travel up to 20% to oversee operations and drive strategic initiatives firsthand
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field
- 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 8 years of experience
- 5+ years of Government contracting experience, including significant experience with DCAA, FAR/DFAR and CAS
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and compliance
Preferred Skills
- Experience as a finance leader within a large defense company, either as a divisional CFO or controller
- CPA, or CMA
- Proficiency in computer skills, specifically with Deltek Costpoint, or similar ERP systems, demonstrating practical experience in financial management and reporting software
Security Responsibilities
Must complywith all company security and data protection/usage policies and procedures. Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials, in any form. Shall not divulge any information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need-to-know. Shall not divulge information outside the company without management approval. All government and proprietary
information will be accessed and stored electronically on company-provided resources.
- Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.
Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
