Taft is currently seeking a Pricing Analyst to join our team in our Minneapolis office.

Taft’s Client & Innovation Office is seeking a Pricing Analyst to support Taft’s firm-wide and market-specific pricing and value strategies. In this role, you will be utilizing and analyzing internal financial data and competitive intelligence market data; supporting the firm’s strategic rate setting process; collecting, reviewing, and preparing data for internal and external review and discussion; providing analysis and preparing budgets for various matter structures across different practice groups; and comparing the outcomes of different pricing strategies. The Pricing Analyst will work closely with members of the Client & Innovation Office, Taft attorneys and leadership, Finance, Marketing, and other operations teams to deliver important information and analysis of current and forecasted data. This position will be critical in presenting complex data in clear and concise ways.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Assess internal data and external data to gain insights into trends and opportunities at market, practice, and experience levels to support and continue to advance the firm's strategic rate setting and pricing processes.
  • Support existing and future data and rate setting models through data inputs, analysis, and validation.
  • Generate competitive intelligence reports and summarize and present findings, including through data visualizations.
  • Analyze historic financial data to support pricing strategies, including phase-based and technology-assisted pricing, for various practice areas.
  • Information gathering on key matter components to determine and support client pricing requests and needs. 
  • Support internal data gathering and validation for competitive intelligence and survey reports.
  • Assist in developing tools, templates, and processes to streamline pricing support across the firm.
  • Work with third party vendors on data confirmation, validation, and investment justifications.
  • Assist in researching, benchmarking, monitoring, and reporting on market trends of legal pricing and rates across markets and practice areas.

 

Education, Skills and Experience Required:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, or related field.
  • 2-5 years of experience in data analysis.
  • Knowledge of relevant software programs (e.g., Outlook, PowerPoint, Word) and databases, with the ability to learn new software and operating systems.
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills needed in order to synthesize, interpret and summarize information in a clear, concise manner.
  • Ability to track industry trends.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for cross-departmental collaboration.
  • Strong multi-tasking, organizational, and planning skills needed in order to handle multiple projects and shifting priorities, and to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Analytical thinking skills, with the ability to adapt to changing demands and work well in a fast-paced environment.
  • Professional who displays a high level of maturity, a confidential nature, and a proactive work ethic.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with financial metrics and pricing for professional services.
  • Experience with financial modeling.
  • Familiarity with law firms, legal service providers, or professional services.

 

Taft offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefit package, including medical, dental, vision, life, long term disability, flexible spending, 401K, Paid Time Off, paid holidays, bonus and more. The salary range for this position is $38.46/hr. – $43.59/hr.  Actual compensation offer to candidate may vary from posted information based on work experience, education, and/or skill level.
