A Tax Manager in the finance industry is responsible for overseeing all tax-related activities within an organization. Their primary duties include developing tax strategies to optimize tax liabilities, ensuring compliance with local, state, national, and international tax laws, preparing and reviewing tax returns, and providing advisory services on tax-related issues. Tax Managers also liaise with external auditors and government tax agencies, and stay updated on the latest tax laws and regulations that may affect the organization's operations.

A strong background in accounting or finance, along with a deep understanding of tax laws, is also crucial. They should be highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines. In terms of certifications, a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Tax Coach (CTC) would be advantageous.
